Blog Posting Activity 8/30/24

Media studies has been a pretty interesting course so far, the teachers style of teaching is more of a down to earth type of vibe, witch is great and she makes the class interesting. For our first quiz I was expecting to have to study the different types of camera shots and what they do, but to my surprise the quiz was actually not a regular paper pencil question quiz. This test was a more abstract way of us showing her that we know the camera shots, we had to go out and tell a story with 15 pictures.

At the beginning of this assignment I was confused and was unsure of how to approach this quiz, but after thinking more outside the box, and trying no to be so boring as how are teacher has told us we are. I managed with my partner to tall a story using an eraser. we began our story with just a regular eraser, then one day the eraser gets dropped outside. Eventually someone spots it and picks it up, but when they go to pick it up the eraser starts emitting a glow. The regular eraser had become a super eraser, and one day while just in the hallway the eraser gets attacked by notebooks. The eraser defeated it but then another appeared. Although the eraser took care of the second notebook he took damage beyond repair, and sadly he perished. Although at first it seems silly and a regular person would think oh this is stupid it was actually enjoyable and a good learning experience.

I strongly feel that this assignment had more than to tell a story, it was to get us to think outside the box. Obviously when someone says tell me a story about an eraser no one expects you to tell them about a superhero eraser. Although I feel like a did a solid job portraying out story the quality isn't the best for example when we made the eraser fly we had to use tape and hold it up so that our hands weren't in the picture. Normally I wouldn't say I'm a fan of more "abstract" classes but this class has got me hooked.
